SAU Rover Scouts marching forward

SINCE establishment in 1980, the Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) Rover Scout Group upholding the rover scout motto “SERVICE” has been performing various scouting activities ranging from community services to agriculture, health and sanitation, child welfare tasks. The SAU Rovers always keep themselves ready to activate their voluntary services at critical hour of local and national needs!The early journey of SAU Rover Scout Group got momentum with the dedicated service of some teachers and students of the then Bangladesh Agricultural Institute (BAI), now Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University. In those days the group was popular as BAI Rovers. This writer was also actively associated with the rover scout movement.
Last year the SAU Rovers arranged tree plantation, blood donation, cleaning, and winter clothes distribution programs and actively participated in these activities under the dynamic leadership of SAU Rover Scout Group Secretary Prof. Dr. A. K. M. Ruhul Amin. The SAU Rovers regularly celebrates various national occasions and arranges cultural events.
Recently the SAU Rover Scout Group Council meeting was held in the Rovers Den of the university. The meeting was presided over by SAU Vice Chancellor and SAU Rover Scout Group President Prof. Dr. Kamal Uddin Ahamed. The annual budget was approved in the meeting. Vice Chancellor Prof. Kamal Uddin Ahamed who always takes keen interest in the activities of rover scouts gave some pragmatic directions for the future development of SAU Rover Group. He assured the meeting that he would take some official measures for the infra-structural development of the SAU Rovers establishment. The meeting approved participation of SAU Rovers team in the ‘11th National Rover Scout Moot 2017’ to be held in Tungipara, Gopalganj from January 26 to January 31, 2017. The National Rover Scout Moot is a great event where scouts from all over Bangladesh will take part in various scouting events and share experiences to renew their motto—“Do your best to be prepared for service”.
The meeting which was attended among others by SAU Pro-VC Prof. Dr. Md. Sekender Ali, Proctor Prof. Dr. Forhad Hossain, SAU Rover Scout Group Secretary Prof. Dr. A K M Ruhul Amin, Tresurer Prof. Dr. Naheed Zeba, Members: Prof. Md. Hasanuzzaman Akand, Prof. Dr. Abdul Latif, and other members of the group council. The meeting also decided to distribute winter clothes among the destitute in the night under the supervision of SAU Pro-VC Prof. Dr. Md. Sekender Ali.
