Taskin set to get back in action

Dhaka – Right-arm pacer Taskin Ahmed is all set to get back in action after a layoff of two months due to an ankle injury.

He was facing uncertainty whether he will be able to play in the World Cup, but after a hard rehabilitation, the pacer is now allowed to play competitive cricket.

He will play in the premier cricket league for Legends of Rupganj who are currently at the top of the points table.

“It was my dream to get fit and take part in the league,” Taskin told the media on Tuesday at the National Cricket Academy Mirpur.

He had to skip the New Zealand tour due to the ankle injury.

“I’m confident about my fitness. I bowled three sessions with the full run-up. There was no problem. I’m close to playing again after a break of more than two months,” he said. “I’m optimistic about doing well.”

Bangladesh Cricket Board will announce the World Cup squad on April 18. Taskin needs to prove his form and fitness before that.

“I won’t be considered for the World Cup team if I don’t do well. This is really a tough situation for me because [playing in] the World Cup is my dream,” he told reporters.

The right-arm pacers started his career in 2014 with an ODI against India at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. He registered a five-wicket haul in his debut.UNB
