Two suspected Ansarullah men held in Narayanganj

Narayanganj, May 20 (UNB) – Rapid Action Battalion members arrested two suspected members of banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team from Fatullah on Sunday.

The arrestees were identified as Abu Sayeed, 24, of Munshiganj’s Tongibari upazila and SM Mahadi Hasan alias Golam Rabbi, 26, hailing from Gournadi upazila of Barishal.

Md Alep Uddin, additional superintendent of police (media) on deputation with RAB-11, revealed their identities on Monday, saying they arrested the duo from Masdair Bhuiyar Bagh area late Sunday midnight. During the drive, the law enforcers also seized a laptop, huge quantity of jihadi books and leaflets.

Abu Sayeed is the coordinator of the militant outfit in Narayanganj while SM Mahadi Hasan is his follower. Their work for ABT saw them promoting its ‘work’ and all kinds of extremist doctrines online, all the while looking to recruit new members from different areas of the district, the ASP added.
