
The National Eidgah is being prepared at the Supreme Court Ground for the Eid-ul-Fitr Prayer.
Final preparations are on in full swing at Dhaka’s National Eidgah ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.
Ahead of the main Eid congregation, extensive cleaning, installation of pandals and heightened security arrangements have been put in place across the sprawling grounds.
Eidgahs are being readied across Bangladesh to celebrate Eid congregations held after a month of fasting, symbolising the equality, fraternity and the brotherhood of man.
Here as in daily or weekly Muslim prayers there is no difference between rich and poor, black or white, the ordinary or the powerful, the strong or the weak. All are on an equal plane and embrace each other symbolising this equality.
The bustling activity reflects the city’s effort to ensure a safe and organised environment for thousands of worshippers expected to attend the main prayers.
The main Eid-ul-Fitr congregation will be held at 8:30am at the National Eidgah on the High Court premises in the capital on the Eid day.
It will be held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 9am in case of inclement weather.
Subject to the sighting of the moon, Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of Muslims, will be celebrated on March 20 or March 21. - UNB
