Jessore – Twelve teenage Bangladeshi girls and a child returned home from India through Benapole Check post here on Friday evening after languishing in jail there for different terms. UNB news agency reported
The returnees are: Dolly, 25, and her child Rumi, 4, of Jessore; Shamima Khatun, 23, and Sagorika Khatun, 23, of Narail ; Renu Khatun, 23, of Magura, Mazeda Khatun, 24, of Jhenidah, Mala Khatun, 20, of Rajbari, Payel, 18, of Nilphamari, Laizu, 19, of Thakurgaon, Sahida, 24, of Narayanganj, Shahnaj, 22, of Dhaka, Renu Begum, 25, of Faridpur and Tahmina, 23, of Bagerhat.
Omar Sharif, officer in-charge of Benapole Checkpost immigration, said human traffickers sent to the neighbouring country at different times alluring them with good jobs there.
But, Indian police arrested them from different areas of Mumbai on charge of trespassing, and produced before a court which sent them to jail.
On completion of their jail term, they were handed over to an Indian NGO.
Finally, Indian immigration police handed them over to Benapole immigration police through Benapole check-post around 6:30pm.
