A Chittagong court yesterday (Tuesday) sent to jail an assistant sub-inspector, a constable of city’s Kowtali police station and one of their cohort on charge of snatching eight gold bars from a business man from Love Lane area of Chittagong on September 21, 2015.Earlier at around they were arrested while discharging duty at Enayet Bazar police outpost of Kowtali police station.
Metropolitan magistrate Nurul Alam Bhuiyan passed the order after the trio was produced before the court yesterday (Tuesday) after noon.
They were identified as assistant sub-inspector Mizanur Rahman, Constable Khan A Alam members of Enayet Bazar police outpost of Kowtali police station and their cohort Al-Amin.
“A businessman named Dolon Kanti Chowdhury filed a case mentioning that three motorcyclists stopped the business man at Chittagong Railway Station area while he was going to Dhaka on September 21, 2015 and two of them identifying themselves as member of police forcibly picked up him in a Taxi. After coming at Love Lane area they snatched eight gold bars from the business man and left the business man at Love Lane area” said Jashim Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kowtali Police station.
“After investigation using electronic devices we have detected the main suspected Al Amin and arrested him. Following the information of the main suspect we interrogated Mizan and Alam. At one stage of interrogation they confessed to us that they were involved with the incidents. We have also recovered the stolen gold seven bars from them,”
“Three gold bars were recovered from Mizan and Alam and four were recovered from Al –Amin. The rest of the gold bar was sold by Al Amin, so it could not be recovered,” added the OC
