28 including drug traders held in Dinajpur


Police, in special drives from Friday night to this morning, arrested 28 people including five drug traders and a Rokon of Jamaat-e-Islami from eight upazilas of the district.

Police said they were picked up from different areas of the district.

During the drives, they recovered 218 bottles of Phensidyl syrup and 150 pieces of yaba tablets from the arrested possession and also recovered 10,500 pieces of cow fattening tablets in an abandoned condition.

While conducting the drives, Dinajpur Sadar Police arrested nine including five drug traders with 218 bottles of Phensidyl syrup and 150 pieces of yaba tablets, Khansama Thana Police arrested two, Kaharole Thana Police one, Hakimpur Thana Police arrested three, Birampur Police arrested four, Ghoraghat Police arrested two, Birganj Thana Police arrested two and Parbatipur Thana Police arrested five persons including a Rokon of Jamaat-e-Islami.

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), in a drive, recovered the cow fattening tablets from Hili Railway Station in Hakimpur upazila in an abandoned condition.

Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested, the sources added.

The arrested people were sent to jail hazat today, reports BSS, Dinajpur.
