3 Malaysian nationals held with gold at Dhaka Airport

Dhaka – Customs officials arrested three Malaysian nationals along with 45 kg gold from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here on Saturday morning.
The arresteed Malaysian nationals were identified as Hee Wooi Khong, 28, Johari Bin Harun, 41, and Mohd Azwan Bin Salihin 21,
Sohel Rahman, joint commissioner of Dhaka Customs House, said the three Malaysian nationals arrived here by a flight of Malaysian Airlines from Kuala Lampur around 11:30am.
Tipped off, a team of the customs officials challenged them while they were crossing Green channel after leaving customs hall of the airport and recovered the gold after searching them, he said.
We had secret information that five Malaysian nationals were scheduled to arrive at the airport carrying a big gold consignment. But finally three of them arrives here, Joint Commissioner Sohel Rahman said.
“ We started monitoring their movements when they came out from the flight and finally challenged them while crossing the green channel,” he added.
Searching their bodies, 45 gold bars each weight around one kg were found. Present market values of the recovered gold consignment around tk 22.50 crore.
During preliminary interrogation, the detained trio revealed that   the detained three foreign nationals revealed that earlier they also came to Bangladesh with gold consignment. – News Desk
