A court here on Friday placed three suspected JMB members, who were arrested during a 14-hour nerve-wracking drive at a militant den in the city’s Mirpur area on December 24, on a four-day fresh remand in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act.Those remanded again are M Mahsin Ali alias Rubel, Ilias alias Omar Faruk and Abu Sayeed alias Rasel alias Salman.
Metropolitan Magistrate M Yunus Khan passed the order when Inspector of Detective Branch (DB) M Mumin Khan, also the investigation officer of the case, produced the trio before the court seeking a seven-day remand.
Earlier on December 25, the suspected members of the banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) were placed on a six-day remand in the case filed with Shah Ali Police Station.
On December 24, a DB team launched a raid on the top-floor of a six-storey building in the city’s Mirpur area.
Later, the DB team along with its Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team and bomb disposal unit, and police from Shah Ali Police Station conducted another drive at the apartment.
During the drive, they arrested seven suspected JMB men, including the three, from two apartments and recovered 16 handmade grenades, three crude bombs and huge quantity of explosives.
Later, DB Inspector Md Shafiuddin filed a case accusing three JMB men — Ilias, Rasel and Mohsin as well as 6-7 unidentified people.
