Dhaka – Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) brought back 40 Bangladeshi tribal women from Indian territory of Baghmara Bazar on Wednesday night after they were detained by the police there following their entry into the country through Bijoypur border area of Netrakona district, unb news agency reported.Sources at the BGB headquarters said the Bangladeshi nationals, from Hajong and Garo communities, started entering Baghmara Bazar in India illegally through different points of Bijoypur frontier to celebrate Chaitra Sangkranti from Wednesday morning.
Indian police detained them from Baghmara Bazar at around 2:10 pm.
Being informed, the BGB 11 battalion commanding officer directed the Bijoypur BGB company commander to take immediate steps to bring back the Bangladeshi women, said a press release from the BGB headquarters.
After the BGB corresponded with Indian Border Security Force (BSF), the detained 40 Bangladeshi tribal women were sent back by the Indian authorities at around 9:15 pm through the border point.
The tribal women were first taken to a nearby police camp and then handed over to their respective family members, the release added.
