5 Bangladeshi teenagers back home thru’ Benapole


Five Bangladeshi teenagers who were trafficked to India three years back returned home through Benapole check post on Tuesday night.Indian police handed them over to Bangladesh Immigration Police at night.The returnees were identified as Shanto Mondal, 11, son of Shibproda Mondal of Mojghorkhali village in Ashashuni upazila of Satkhira; Shamim,12, son of Selim of Pangasi village in Lalmohan upazila of Bhola; Nasir Sheikh,10, son of Jahangir Sheikh of Shaikbhanga village, Rahul,10, son of Khokan Fakir of Fakirbasi village, and Jahid, 13, son of Ajahar Faraji of Bhanda village in Morelganj upazila of Bagerhat district.Benapole check post immigration officer-in-charge Maminur Rahman said human traffickers had trafficked the five teenagers to India through Jessore bordering area three years back.They were forced to do hazardous jobs there.Being informed, Indian police rescued them and handed them to Bangalore Nagarbar Signal, an Indian non-government organisation.Later, the victims were sent back to Bangladesh after the Bangalore Nagarbar Signal and home ministry of Bangladesh jointly worked for their travel permits. -UNB, Benapole
