Vote fraud to invite movement, warns Bnp

BNP on Monday warned that they will intensify their ongoing movement if the government manipulates the elections.

Addressing a press conference at BNP’s Nayapaltan headquarters, party senior leader Moudud Ahmed also said that the government will be held responsible for the emerging situation if the people’s verdicts are stanched in the elections to Dhaka south, Dhaka north and Chittagong city corporations.“Amid huge obstacles and difficulties, we’ve completed our all necessary preparations for the voting day. We’ve already appointed polling agents and volunteers for every poling station,” he said.

Moudud further said, “We think a mass wave has been created in favour of the 20-party candidates. Our party-supported contestants will surely come out successful if the polls are held in a free and fair manner. If voters and our agents are obstructed from going to polling stations and our agents are forced out, our ongoing movement for establishing people’s voting rights will be intensified further.”

The BNP leader alleged that their party-blessed mayoral candidate for Dhaka South City Corporation’s polls Mirza Abbas and 36 other councillor candidates of the two Dhaka cities’ polls could not conduct electioneering to avoid police harassment.

“We’re going to the polls amid uncertainty as the law enforcers and the Election Commission are not playing a neutral role, let alone ensuring a level-paying field,” he said.

Mentioning that they have information that the government has a plan to ensure the victory of the ruling party-backed candidates by Rab and police, Moudud said they will see whether the government implements its design on Tuesday. “We want to say if the government manipulates the polls, it won’t be possible for us to take part any polls under this regime further.”

He alleged that the law enforcers and ruling party men are intimidating the voters and poling agents of the 20-party-supported candidates.

He termed fake and baseless the allegation that some BNP men were arrested while buying votes. “It’s a ridiculous allegation that our leaders are spreading money in a situation when they can not stay even their houses due to police harassment. – Unb
