The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday quizzed immediate past chairman of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha Nurul Huda as part of the investigation into three cases recently filed against former secretary of ministry of housing and public works Khondaker Shawkat Hossain, for allegedly acquiring government plots and abusing the power, said an ACC official.
ACC deputy director Jatan Kumar Roy quizzed him for the second time at the commission head quarters at Segun Bagicha in the city. The commission earlier interrogated him before filing the cases against Khondaker Showkat, said the official.
Meanwhile, the ACC quizzed four Rajuk officials on May 9 in the same case. The officials are directors Mohammad Musa and Syed Nazrul Islam, deputy director Iqbal Ahsan and assistant director Abu Musa.
ACC official Jatan Kumar Roy filed the three cases against Showkat with Motijheel police on April 22 last.
Sources said Showkat Hossain, now secretary of the ministry of expatriates’ welfare and overseas employment, has taken three plots in the names of his family members, using his influence as the housing and public works ministry secretary.
According to the Rajuk rules, there is no scope to obtain more than one plot in the name of an individual, and the family, but Showkat has taken three plots under the government quota, in his name and that of his wife, Ayesha Begum, and his mother. – Staff Reporter
