Dhaka – Bangladesh will play Sri Lanka in their 4th and last Group B match of the AFC Under-19 Championship Qualifiers at the Hisor Central Stadium in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on Wednesday. The match will kick off at 3pm Bangladesh time.Bangladesh Youth team were almost out of the race after conceding 0-1 defeat against stronger and favourite Uzbekistan in a last minute suicidal goal by Atiquzzaman awarding Uzbekistan the top slot in the five-team group with full nine points from three matches to assure the final round berth having an advantage of 17 plus goals.Hosts Tajikistan also brightened their chance to reach the next year’s final round of AFC meet in Indonesia beating the Maldives by 5-0 goals on Monday to stay in title race of the group securing seven points from three matches with an advantage of plus 11 goals. However, Bangladesh has the chance to reach the final round of the meet as if they become one of the best five runners-up of the 10 Asian groups.For being the group runners-up, Uzbekistan will have to beat Tajikistan and Bangladesh to beat lowly Sri Lanka by a good margin in their last group engagements, both on Wednesday (Nov 8) In the ongoing meet, Bangladesh remained at 3rd slot in the five-team group after Uzbekistan (9 pts) and Tajikistan (7 pts), securing four points from three matches with zero goal difference after beating the Maldives 1-0, drew goalless with hosts Tajikistan and conceded 0-1 defeat against Uzbekistan.The ten group champion teams along with the five best runners-up of the 10 Asian groups will earn the rights play in the final round of the tournament billed for Indonesia next year.Ahead of the match against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh Head Coach Mahbub Hossain Roxy said after the Uzbekistan match everybody is in a good spirit and is more confident. “So we’ll try our best to play against Sri Lanka to win the match and achieve full points. We had a very bad luck because we lost the match against Uzbekistan in the last minute debacle. I can honestly say that Bangladesh football is improving day by day.”UNB news agency
