Airport knifing accused Shihab placed on remand

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Sunday placed lone accused Shihab on a 5-day remand in a case filed for allegedly stabbing a member of Ansar to death at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital.Magistrate Mahmudul Hasan of the court passed the order after hearing on the remand plea on Sunday noon. Earlier, the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit Inspector Mahbubul Alam and also the Investigation Officer of the case sought remand for 10 days to quiz Shihab.
On November 6, Ansar Shohag Ali was stabbed to death and other three security personnel were injured at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport injured as a person in a cleaner’s uniform attacked them with a knife.
The incident took place at about 7:10 pm at gate No. 4 on the second floor of the international departure terminal. Law enforcers caught the attacker and he was later identified as Shihab.
The following day, Airport Platoon Commander of Ansar- Ashraful Alam filed a case in this connection accusing Shihab. Immediately after the incident, Armed Police Battalion (APBN) with the charge of the security of the airport, formed a three-member committee headed by its Additional DIG Hasib Aziz to investigate into the incident. The committee was instructed to submit a report by December 20. – Special Correspondent
