AL-BNP face-off feared in Chittagong


A fear of violence looms large in the port city as Awami League and

BNP have announced to hold their respective rallies at the same venue
and same time.

City Awami League at a press conference at the Chashma Hill residence

announced on Sunday that they will hold a two-day rally at Laldighi

concerned to hold a four-day rally at the same venue from October 24
to October 27.

Meanwhile, city BNP president Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury told UNB
that they sent a letter to the Muslim High School authorities on
October 10 seeking permission to hold a four-day rally at the Laldighi
Maidan from October 24 to October 27.

His personal secretary Mohammad Selim said they also sought police
permission to hold a meeting at the Zilla Parishad Chattar on October
