AL has surplus of 3.38cr,BNP in deficit of 14lac in yr 2015

Dhaka-The country’s two major political parties — ruling Awami League (AL) and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) yesterday submitted their financial reports to the Election Commission (EC).The ruling AL in its report said the party has surplus balance of Tk 3.38 crore after the calendar year of 2015, while its arch rival BNP in its report said they are in deficit of Tk 14 lakh after the year of 2015.
AL treasurer H N Ashiqur Rahman and its office secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap submitted their party’s income and expenditure report to the EC. BNP chairperson’s adviser AKM Aminul Haque and its joint secretary general Moazzem Hossain Alal submitted the fiancial report to the EC.
Election Commission secretary Mohammad Sirajul Islam received their financial reports.
However, the ruling AL earned taka 7.11 lakh and expended taka 3.73 lakh while BNP earned taka 1.73 lakh and expended taka 1.87 in this year.
The representatives of both political parties talked to the waiting reporters after submitting their audit reports at the EC secr4etariate.
AL office secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap said the party has earned more than its expenditure. Party’s financial statement will also be published on its website.
He said the main sources of their party’s income were fees came from party leaders and activists from all levels, donations, and party nomination forms sale and from publication sector. The salaries and festival bonus of employees, political programmes, and other events on different occasions, and distribution of relief materials were the main heads of expenditures.
There was about Tk 20.39 crore in their party’s fund in early 2015 that stood Tk 23.87 crore at the end of the year, he added.
BNP leader Aminul Haq said they have around Tk 14 lakh deficit last year and it will be adjusted with the party’s previous income.
Talking to this correspondent yesterday BNP leader Moazzem Hossain Alal said, “The party had to spend in some unexpected issues this year. You know our party leaders and activists faced police harassment and still they are facing the problem and the party helped the family members of those victims from its fund and this is the main cause behind the deficit audit report.”-Staff reporter
