Dhaka, Dec 24 – Attorney General (AG) Mahbubey Alam has received a death threat again.
The threat was issued in five letter sent to his office on Sunday. Personal secretary to the AG Kabir Ahmed filed a general diary with Shahbagh Police Station in the evening in this connection, said Abdul Hasan, officer-in-charge of the police station.
Kabir said the five letters with one Akash from Baridhaha being the sender reached the AG office in the afternoon.
In the letters, the state’s chief law officer was asked to get ready for death, saying he will be buried at Jurain graveyard.
Different incidents were also mentioned in the letters while pictures from internet attached.
About the death threat, Mahbubey Alam said he is not afraid at all. “Threats will come and those will have to be faced with courage,” he said, adding that everybody should remain alert against any subversive activities.
This is not for the first time that the attorney general, who has been dealing with war crimes cases for around seven years, received the death threat.
Mahbubey and his family members were threatened with death on several occasions through letters and short messages service.
He received a death threat on December 7 last, May 31 and August 9 in 2016, and October 22 in 2013.
