Students and teachers of animal husbandry faculty of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) observed Animal Husbandry Day on the campus on Monday.
To observe the day a colorful procession was brought out in front of the faculty which ended at the Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin Auditorium after parading main streets on the campus.
Later a discussion program was held at the auditorium.
BAU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Ali Akbar addressed the discussion as chief guest with dean of the faculty Prof Dr S D Chowdhury in chair. President of Bangladesh Animal Husbandry Association (BAHA) Sayed Sakhawat Hossain and District Livestock Officer (DLO) of Mymensingh Md Shorafat Zaman spoke in the discussion.
Prof Dr Nurul Islam in his keynote paper, titled ‘Importance of animal husbandry education’, said, quality animal husbandry graduates is necessary to meet the need of animal protein such as meat, milk and egg in our country as the production is still insufficient.
He also urged to adopt a proposed organogram for department of livestock services to boost proper management of animal production.
BAU VC said the animal husbandry graduates have the potentiality to bring enormous development in the livestock sector of the country. – BAU Correspondent
