BCL: Imrul’s ton spurs South Zone’s collection 296/10 v East Zone


Dhaka – Imrul Kayes hammered a century of 136 runs on the way to Prime Bank South Zone’s 1st innings collection of 296/10 on day one against Islami Bank East Zone in the 5th round of the four-day Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Sunday.In another 5th round match’s 1st day’s play, Sunzamul’s five wickets haul for the table topper BCB North Zone forced to restrict the defending champion Walton Central Zone’s 1st innings collection at 181/10 in 63.5 overs at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.South Zone vs East Zone Batting first after winning the toss, South Zone played 80 overs for their collection where centurion Imrul and opener Anamul Haque paired in the 2nd wicket for 84 in 16 overs.The 2nd pair started from 12/1 in 5.4 overs and ended at 96/2 in 21.4 overs as Anamul was bowled out by Saqlain Sajib after hammering a half century of 58 off 73 balls, including eight boundaries and one over boundary.Imrul played an innings of 210 balls to fire 18 boundaries and two over boundaries for his century and was caught by Tasamul Haque off skipper Alok Kapali’s bowling leaving team collection at 275/9 in 74.1 overs.Nazmul Islam (not out 23), Ziaur Rahman(21), Shahriar Nafees(14) and Al-Amin Hossain(12) were the other double figure scorers for the side.Saqlain Sajib and Mohammad Saifuddin captured three wickets each for 17 and 70 runs respectively while Rahatul Ferdous, Alok Kapali, Afif Hossain and Nayeem Hasan took one wicket each for East Zone. East Zone opened the 1st innings on the day and remained at stumps with 4/0 in 8 overs where Imtiaz Hossain (4) and Afif Hossain (0) were batting to resume the innings on the 2nd day.Central Zone vs North Zone Sent in to bat first, Central Zone collected their figure with opener Saif Hassan’s top-scoring 63 runs while number six batsman Taibur Rahman added unbeaten 40. Mehrab Hossain Jr (26) and Abdul Mazid (14) were the other double figure scorers for the side.Sunzamul Islam captured five wickets for economic 45 runs in 25.5 overs while Farhad Reza took three for 41 runs. Naeem Islam and Alauddin Babu took one wicket each for the side.North Zone opened the 1st innings on the day and remained at stumps scoring 63/3 in 21 overs.Skipper-cum-opener Jahurul Islam stayed for 35 runs. Junaid Siddique (17) and Naeem Islam (4) were at stumps when the bails were drawn for the first day.
