BD girls eye SAFF U-15 Women’s Championship title


Dhaka – The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Under-15 Women’s Championship will begin at Birshrestha Shaheed Sepoy Mostafa Kamal Stadium at Kamlapur here on Sunday.Including hosts Bangladesh, a total of four nations will take part in the weeklong meet involving seven matches where they will face each other once in the group phase battles and the two top teams will play the final on December 24. The three other participating teams — India, Nepal and Bhutan — are scheduled to arrive here on December 15.India will take on Bhutan in the tournament opener at 11: 30am while Bangladesh will face Nepal in another opening day match starting at 2:30pm.In the remaining group matches, Bangladesh will face Bhutan and India on December 19 and 21 respectively. Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Women’s Football Committee Chairperson Mahfuza Akter Kiron disclosed the details at a press conference at the BFF House on Wednesday.Bangladesh U-15 Women’s team head coach Golam Rabbani Choton expects a good result from his girls on the home ground while captain Maria Manda wants to clinch the title with their best efforts.BFF General Secretary Abu Nyeem Sohag, BFF Strategy and Technical Director Paul Thomas Smalley, head of delegation of the BFF Women’s National U-15 team Amirul Islam Babu, Team Manager Nasrin Aktar Baby and all the players of the U-15 Women’s team were also present.
