Dhaka – Hosts Bangladesh reached the semifinals of the Beximco 4th Boys’ Under-18 Asia Cup Hockey-2016 as Pool A champion
with all-win record crushing all-loser Oman by 10-0 goals at Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium on Tuesday.Bangladesh will play the first semifinal against Pool B runners-up Chinese Taipei on Thursday at 12:30 pm while Pool B champion Pakistan will play their traditional rivals Pool A runners-up India in the 2nd semifinal at 3 pm on the same day.Favourite Pakistan clinched the Pool B title also with all-win record trouncing Hong Kong by 14-0 goals while Chinese Taipei finished Pool B runners-up after playing 2-2 draw with China on Tuesday at the same venue.Earlier, hosts Bangladesh made the biggest upset in the ongoing Asian youth hockey tournament beating former champions India by 5-4 goals in their first match on Saturday. However, India smartly came back to the race outplaying Oman by 11-0 goals in the 2nd match.After the match, proud manager of Bangladesh team Kawser Ali said, “We did not have field goals as expected in the previous match (against India), but we scored a lot of field goals in the today’s match that increased our confidence level for the next match.”In the day’s last pool match, the home side smartly dominated the first half by 7-0 goals over gulf nation Oman.Mohammad Mohsin scored three field goals in the 16th, 28th and 53rd minutes while Ashraful Islam also struck three goals from his favourite penalty corners in 22nd, 33rd and 62nd minutes for
Bangladesh.Besides, Fazla Hossain Rabby scored two field goals in the 18th and 67th minutes, Mahbub Hossain and Arshad Hossain added one filed goal each in the 4th and 7th minutes respectively.Later, Mohammad Mohsin was adjudged the best player of the match.Mahbub Hossain put Bangladesh ahead in the very 4th minute by a field goal utilising a back cut of Fazla Hossain Rabby (1-0).

Bangladesh (4-0) by another field goal.Penalty corner specialist Ashraful Islam scored his 5th goal for Bangladesh in the 22nd minute from a penalty corner, pushed by Fazla Hossain Rabby and stopped by Naim Uddin (5-0).In the 28th minute, Mohammad Mohsin scored his 2nd field goal flicking the ball home off a Naimuddin pass (6-0).Ashraful Islam scored his 2nd and 7th goal for goal Bangladesh from another penalty corner, pushed by Raju Ahmed and stopped by Fazla Hossain Rabby to dominate first half by 7-0.goals.In the 53rd minute, Mohsin scored his 3rd field goal off a Mahabub Hossain pass (8-0) Ashraful Islam scored his 3rd goal, also from penalty corner in the 62nd minute, pushed by Raju Ahmed and stopped by Naimuddin (9-0).Fazla Hossain Rabby sealed the fate of the match in the 67th minute by his 2nd field goal (10-0).
