Biswajit murder hearing adjourned till on Oct 6

Dhaka’s Speedy Trial Trubunal-4 on Wednesday adjourned the hearing in the Biswajit murder case till October 6.
Earlier, the judge-in-charge of the tribunal, Md Nuruzzaman recorded the cross-examination of the second and last Investigation Officer
(IO) of the case and Detective Branch (DB) Inspector Tajul Islam, and fixed the next date for further cross-examination by the remaining
lawyers of the accused.
The same IO showed the judge the VDO footage of the incident on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the tribunal completed recording the depositions of the first IO  and Sutrapur Police Station Sub-Inspector Mahbubul Alam and
with him the tribunal completed recording of 31 witnesses, out of 60 witnesses in the case.
Eight accused, now in custody, were produced to the court Wednesday.
They are Rafiqul Islam Shakil, Mahfuzur Rahman Nahid, Emdadul Haque Emdad, GM Rasheduzzaman Shaon, AHM Kibria, Saiful Islam, Qaiyum Mia
and Golam Mostafa.
Of them Shakil, Nahid, Emdad and Shaon made confessional statements admitting their involvement in the sensational murder. The remaining
thirteen accused are on the run.
Tailor Biswajit Das, was chopped to death allegedly by some Bangladesh Chhatra League activists near Bahadur Shah Park in the old city during
the opposition’s countrywide road blockade programme on December 9 last year. – Court Correspondent
