BNP to blame for violence over Khaleda’s Gazipur Rally: BCL

Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) president HM Badiuzzaman Sohag on Thursday said BNP will be held responsible if any clash and violence takes place centring BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s rally in Gazipur on Saturday.
The BCL president came up with the remark at a press conference at its central office at Bangabandhu Avenue in the city.HM Badiuzzaman Sogah said BCL will hold a rally on the premises of Bhawal Gov Badre Alam College on Saturday to protest the defamatory remarks of BNP senior vice chairman against Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
“Our preparation (to arrange the rally) has already been completed. Peoples from all professions, including students-youths-workers have also expressed their solidarity with our demonstration rally,” he added.
“Tarique Rahman must seek apology to the nation for insulting Bangabandhu. We are now fighting two types of battles. One is the legal battle and another is the movement on the streets. We’ll stay on the streets with such programmes,” Sohag said.
About Wednesday’s Bakshibazar violence, the BCL president said they first came under attack. “The attack was motivated. We rather showed respect to former opposition leader (Khaleda Zia).”
HM Badiuzzaman Sohag alleged that BNP deliberately created anarchic situation following BNP chairperson’s appearance before the court, but tried to shift the blame on me and BCL.
