Bodies of mother, daughter found in Ctg home water reservoir

Dhaka, July 15 – Police on Sunday recovered the bodies of a mother and her daughter found inside a water reservoir at their home Meher Manzil of Ambagan area under Khulshi police station in Chattogram. The victims were identified as Manowara Begum,94, wife of Fazlur Rahman and their daughter Shah Meherun Nessa Begum (67) former Principal Officer of Rupali Bank. They hailed from Motlob of Chandpur district.
The mother-and-the daughter were living on the ground floor of the four-storied house and three floors are under construction. The building owner is Meherun Nessa Begum. At around 12 pm the local people informed the Khulshi police station and the police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies, said police.
Police said Meherun Nessa was an unmarried woman who has four brothers and four sisters, most of them live in abroad. The women with her elderly mother were living in the house alone.
“Local people informed us that they were not found in their home and the goods were found shuffle in the home. Then a team of police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies from the reserve water tank of the house,” said Sheikh Mohammad Nasir Uddin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khulshi police station.
“Apparently it seems to us a pre-planned murder. However, we are yet to be confirmed about the reason behind the murder. We are looking into the matter,” added the OC.
“We suspect after murder the bodies were dumped into the water tank,” added the OC.
High officials of Chattogram Metropolitan Police, Detective Branch, and Criminal Investigation Department visited the crime scene.
Maksudur Rahman, one of their neighbour said the deceased younger brother called him from the USA that he could not contact his sister and mother as their phone was found switched off. “He asked me to look into the matter then I went to their home at around 10:30 am and found the gate is locked. Later, by the second floor of the under-construction house entering into it, we found the goods were shuffling and the Almirah was broken. Then we inform the police.”
Belal Uddin calming nephew of the deceased Meherun Nessa said it is a pre-planned murder. “We are suspecting they were killed for the embezzlement of their property and money. My aunt often used to say that the local influential people were disturbing her. She asked us to look for a buyer to sale the land.”
