Buriganga death toll rise to 9


“Fire service divers resumed search operation on Friday morning and pulled out the body of Jamila Khatun, a Lalbagh resident,” Narayanganj Fire Service Deputy Director Md Momtaz Uddin said.The trawler, with nearly 80 passengers on board, capsized after it was hit by a sand-laden cargo vessel near Narayanganj around 12:45 pm Thursday. Most of the passengers managed to swim to safety with the help of locals, but some were believed to be missing.Families claimed on Friday morning that at least four more were still missing. They are ‘Rasel’, 19, Md Kajal, 25, ‘Samad’, 25, and Alamgir Hossain, 30. Another eight bodies were fished out earlier. They are Md Samir Hossain, 45, ‘Rubel’, 18, ‘Zakir’, 28, ‘Sagar’ 10, Karamzan Bibi, 65, ‘Rubel’, 30, ‘Swapan’, 16 and ‘Kajal’, 28.All the victims and those identified as missing are residents of Lalbagh. -BDnews24, Dhaka
