Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha wants to stay in Australian from October 13 to November 10. The CJ yesterday informed President Abdul Hamid about obtaining visa along with his wife Sushama Sinha to visit Australia.
Sinha sent a letter to the President through the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs in the afternoon expressing his desire to go to Australia, according to sources in the ministry.
In his letter, he informed that he would like to go out of the country on health ground and metal fatigue, sources added.
When contacted Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Anisul Huq confirmed that his ministry received a letter from the Chief Justice but he is not aware of its the content.
“The ministry has received a letter from the Chief Justice but I am yet to go through it,” he added.
The CJ sent the letter a week after he went on one month leave on health ground and planned to leave for Australia where he will stay at the residence of his elder daughter Suchana Sinha.
Ministry sources said in consultation with the President they would prepare and issue a Government Order (GO) which is required for the CJ to go abroad.
The CJ during his planned visit to Australia will be accompanied by his spouse Sushama Sinha.
Meanwhile, the CJ has taken treatment from doctors of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University and went to ICDDR,B for his urine and blood test and visited a dentist at Banani for his dental check-up.
The Chief Justice, who obtained three years visa from the Australian High Commission, is scheduled to go on retirement on January 31 next year. – Staff Reporter
