City to be foolproof security zone for polls: DMP Commissioner

A foolproof security zone will be created in the capital on the day of the City Corporation elections so that voters can cast their votes without any fear.
“A foolproof security zone will be created in the city on the election day on April 28 so that voters can cast their votes spontaneously, fearlessly and in a festive mood,” said Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia while briefing reporters at the DMP media centre.
He said a coordinated security measure will be taken in the city in coordination with police, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) and Ansar members.The DMP chief said 70 platoons of BGB will be deployed in the capital alongside police to main the law and order on the election day.
Police have been working efficiently to maintain a good atmosphere ahead of the polls, said Asaduzzaman claiming that no untoward incident except 2-3 sporadic incidents occurred in the city centering the upcoming city corporation elections.
He said two mobile teams will be on patrol in each ward under Dhaka South City Corporation and Dhaka North City Corporation so that voters can return home safely after casting their votes.
Besides, a control room and four sub-control rooms will be set up in the city on the voting day, the DMP chief said.
Asaduzzaman said adequate security forces will remain deployed in the city even after the election to fend off any untoward incident.
He said stern actions will be taken against those who will flex muscle and use black money targeting the polls,” the DMP Commissioner said.- UNB
