Court orders more inquiry on Jihad death

A Dhaka court on Thursday passed order for further investigation into the death of child Jihad who died after falling into an abandoned water pump in the capital’s Shahjahanpur area.
Magistrate Md Mahbubur Rahman of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka gave the order in response to a petition of Jihad’s father Nasir Fakir. The four-year old child died inside a 600-foot abandoned shaft of a water pump at Shahjahanpur Railway Colony on December 26, 2014. His body was pulled out from the well almost 23 hours after the incident.
Later, Jihad’s father filed a case against contractor Abdus Salam and Jahangir Alam, Senior Sub Assistant Engineer of Bangladesh Railway on allegation of negligence in performing their duties. – Court Correspondent
