CPB, BSD meet Khaleda

Communist Party of Bangladesh and Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal leaders are holding a meeting with the opposition chief Khaleda Zia, a day after they met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

A delegation comprising 14 leaders from both the parties, led by CPB President Mujahidul Islam Selim and BSD General Secretary Khalequzzaman, are taking part in the meeting being held at the BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office since Wednesday evening.
Sources in the CPB and BSD said the meeting came as part of the two parties’ efforts to end the political deadlock over a poll-time government through talks. – bdnews24.com

Meanwhile, Khaleda Zia has met with BNP policymakers to chart next course of political programmes, three hours after the Opposition’s 60-hour countrywide shutdown ended on Tuesday.
The meeting, begun at 9:30pm, ended at the BNP Chairperson’s Gulshan office at around 10:45pm.
The party did not brief the media about the meeting.
Khaleda’s Press Secretary Maruf Kamal Khan had earlier told reporters that the meeting would take stock of political situation and the party’s next movement.

BNP Standing Committee members RA Gani, Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Moudud Ahmed, Mahbubur Rahman and Jamiruddin Sircar, among others, were present at the meeting.
The main opposition party had also declared that it would stage demonstrations on Thursday and hold an absentee funeral prayer across the country protesting against the ‘killings, tortures and arrests’ during the shutdown.
