Defamation suit against Khaleda Zia, Gayeshwar deferred

Dhaka, March 13 – The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka Tues day deferred the submission of the investigation report in a defamation case filed against BNP Chief Begum Khaleda Zia and standing committee member of the party, Goyeshwar Chandra Roy to April 11.Magistrate Abu Sayed of the CMM court passed the order after hearing. The investigation officer of the case failed to submit the report Tuesday also. He took time 26 times for submitting the report.
Bangladesh Jananetri Parishad president AB Siddiqui filed the case accusing two the leaders of defamation. The case docket says, on December 21, 2015, Khaleda Zia allegedly made defamatory comments against martyrs at a meeting arranged at the Engineers Institution Bangladesh of Dhaka.
On the other hand, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy made similar comments about martyred intellectuals at a discussion meeting arranged at the Jatiya Press Club of the city on December 25 of the same year. – Special Correspondent
