Delhi cautions its high commission in Dhaka over Islamic State

In the wake of the recent attacks by Islamic State in neighbouring countries, India has asked its embassies to take extra precautions to secure its citizens, bdnews24.com reported.New Delhi, in a recent communiqué sent to its missions in Bangladesh and Pakistan, has asked to ensure the safety and security of Indian officials and Indian communities.
“The government of India is closely and regularly monitoring the activities of terrorist organisations, including ISIS, in the neighbouring countries,” a top official in India’s home ministry said on Wednesday.
Whenever necessary, information with regards to India’s security interests abroad is shared with local government authorities, the official said.
As per standard diplomatic norms and practices, the primary responsibility for ensuring the safety and security of Indian officials and institutions in these countries lies on the host government.
“Regular channels of communication are being maintained with the governments of neighbouring countries,” the official said.
The government is also regularly upgrading security arrangements at the embassies and consulates in close consultation and liaison with the local government, the official added.
