Demos protest atrocities against Rohingyas in Myanmar


Dhaka – Different parties and organizations on Friday staged demonstrations and brought out processions in the city protesting the ongoing atrocities on the Muslim community in Myanmar’s Arakan state.
Speaking at the rallies, the leaders of the organizations demanded the Myanmar authority to stop the genocide immediately and called upon the international community to intervene to stop the massacres of Rohingya and allow them to go back safely.Islami Andolon Bangladesh (IAB), one of the major Islamist party in the country, will gherao the Myanmar Embassy in Dhaka on September 13 protesting the repressive policy of Myanmar on Rohingya Muslims.
Mufty Sayed Mohammad Fayzul Karim, Nayebe Ameer of IAB, announced the programme at a protest rally in front of North Gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque after Juma prayer yesterday.
As part of the programme, the IAB will start its gherao programme from in front of the Baitul Mukarram at 10:00am on the day.
The other programmes of the organization include holding protest rally at district level on September 11 and starting relief distribution programme among the Myanmar refugees on September 12.
Mufty Fayzul Karim, who is also pir of Charmonai, demanded of the Myanmar authority to provide citizenship to the Rohingya Muslims saying that if they are not considered as citizens of Myanmar despite living there for over thousand years which means that Arakan is a part of Bangladesh.
He demanded trial of Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi in the international tribunal court for war crimes, deployment of UN peacekeepers in the Rohingya state, implement of recommendations of Kofi Anan Commission.
The IAB leader questioned the role of United Nations to deal with the Rohingya crises and called upon the Muslim Ummah to forge a greater unity to protect the interests of Muslims.
He also put emphasis the need to form a separate United Nations for the sake of world Muslims.
IAB leaders—Maulana Imtiaz Alam and Maulana ATM Hemayet Uddin, among others, also spoke on the occasion.
Later, they brought out a procession in the city.
Khelfat Majlish also staged demonstration in front of the House Building in the city protesting the repressive policy of the Myanmar on Rohingya Muslims.
Dr Ahmed Abdul Quader, secretary general of the organization and Maulana Ahmed Kashemi, among others, spoke on the occasion. – Staff Reporter
