Dinajpur boiler blast death toll rises to 3

Dinajpur – Another worker who received burn injuries in a boiler explosion at a rice mill in Gopalganj of Sadar upazila on Wednesday died at Rangpur Medical College Hospital on Thursday, raising the death toll from the incident to three. UNB news agency reported.
Sources at the hospital said Anwarul Islam, 45, succumbed to his injuries around 8 am.
On Wednesday, two workers, including a female one, were killed and 28 others suffered burn injuries as the boiler went off at ‘Jamuna Auto Rice Mill’ around 11am.
The injured were taken to M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital where doctors declared Anjana Bibi, 30, and Moksed Ali, 50, dead.
Of the injured, 14 were shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital where Anwarul Islam succumbed to his injuries on Thursday morning.
Meanwhile, a six-member probe committee, headed by additional district magistrate Mahbubur Rahman, was formed to look into the incident.
The other committee members are additional police super (DSB) Kazem Uddin, deputy director of Dinajpur fire service Liakat Ali, factory inspector Zulfikar Ali, vice-president of Dinajpur Chamber of Commerce Anwarul Islam and boiler inspector Humayun Kabir.
The committee was asked to submit its report within three working days.
