Asani weakens into depression, becomes unimportant

The cyclonic storm "Asani" over West-central Bay off Andhra coast of India moved westwards, weakened into a deep depression first and then into a depression and lay over coastal land area of Andhra Pradesh and adjoining area at 6 am today.

It will be weaken gradually and become unimportant as trough of westerly low lies over West Bengal and adjoining area.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers with lightning flashes and temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur many places over the country, said a Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) bulletin valid for 24 hours commencing 9am today.

Country's maximum temperature on Wednesday was recorded 35.2 degrees Celsius at Syedpur in Rangpur district and minimum temperature today was 23.3 degrees Celsius at Sylhet.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours till 6am today was recorded 78 mm at Sylhet.

The sun sets at 6.33 pm today and rises at 5.17 am tomorrow in the capital, reports BSS.
