Don’t build Rampal plant, choose another site – Khaleda

Dhaka – BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia yesterday called upon the party leaders and activists to work together and get united by shunning all differences among them.
“The party got a batch of new and youthful leaders. The party leaders and activists should have no differences at this critical juncture but they should get united to carry forward the party,” she said while speaking at a discussion meeting at Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh. The BNP organized the meeting to mark the 38th founding anniversary of the party, which was established by later President Ziaur Rahman in 1978.
Khaleda criticized the government for its alleged silence despite India opened the gates of its Farakka Barrage that caused floods in different districts in Bangladesh.
She questioned that if it was an act friendship that they (India) are releasing water by opening the gates of Farakka in the rainy season but not during the lean season.

Khaleda said the government had failed to give any reply to her statement given at a recently held press conference over Rampal power plant.
BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Dr KHandaker MOsharraf Hossain, Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Mirza Abbas, Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar, among others, addressed the meeting.
