Even party men won’t be spared: AL

No leniency will be shown even if the person is from the ruling party in the investigation of the Narayanganj seven murders, Awami League leader Suranjit Senguptahas said.
“The prime minister has taken a strong position in the Narayanganj incident,” he said, speaking at a discussion in the city on Friday.
“Whoever is the criminal, the government and Awami League will not show any leniency towards them. They will be brought to justice,” the senior leader said.Local Awami League leader Nur Hossain is the prime suspect in the recent murder and abduction of seven men, including city councillor Nazrul Islam.
Narayanganj’s deputy commissioner, police superintendent and RAB-11 commanding officer Lt Col Tarek Sayeed Mahmud were transferred two days after the abductions.
Nazrul’s family has accused the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) of taking money from Hossain for the murders.
Mahmud, son-in-law of Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, and two other RAB members have been forced to retire following the allegations.
The home ministry on Thursday night transferred 81 police officers in the district and named a new commander for RAB-11 battalion.
Sengupta said Nur Hossain will be arrested ‘soon’.
He recalled the Biswajit Das murder case in which several activists of the Awami League’s student front Chhatra League were convicted.
Biswajit was hacked to death by Chhatra League activists on Dec 9, 2012 in Old Dhaka during a strike called by the BNP-led 18-Party alliance.
Last year, a Dhaka court sentenced eight men to death and 13 others to life for the murder.
“Even if anyone close to the government is involved in the Narayanganj incident, he, too, will suffer the same fate,” Sengupta said.
“The government is determined to establish the rule of law,” he added.-bdnews24.com
