Dhaka – Rahmatganj MFS and Brothers Union Club advanced to the quarterfinals of the Walton Federation Cup Football-2017 from Group D after playing goalless with each other at Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Wednesday.After the day’s last lone match, the old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj MFS emerged group champions with unbeaten run securing four points while Brothers Union finished group runners-up, also with unbeaten record collecting two points.The other team of the group Team BJMC eliminated from the season’s curtain raiser meet securing one point from two matches.Rahmatganj midfielder Rashedul Islam Shuvo unleashed a fierce right footer from the top of the box in the 37th minute but Brothers goalie Kamal Hossain Titu made a brilliant save.Brothers Union denied the Rahmatganj crosspiece in the 67th minute with midfielder Mohammad Mesbah pulling his hair as his looping lob from 25 yards out ricocheted off the Rahmtaganj crosspiece much to the dismay of the Gopibag outfit.Both the teams made a good number of scattered moves but failed to change the scenario of the match.UNB news agency
