Five ‘Islami Chhatri Sangstha activists’ held in Chittagong


Dhaka – Police in a drive arrested five activists of Islami Chhatri Sangstha, female student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, along with some jihadi (religious uprising) books from Purba Gumdondi area of Boalkhali upazila of Chittagong on Tuesday, UNB news agency reported.Of the arrestees, two are first year students of English Department of Chittagong College while two others first year students of Sir Ashutosh Govt College in Boalkhali.
However, police did not disclose the names of the detainees.
Tipped off, a team of Boalkhali Police Station launched a drive at the house of Abdus Salam, an expatriate, at the village around 3 pm while they were holding a secret meeting there and arrested them along with some jihadi books, said assistant police super of Chittagong (south) Imran Bhuiyan.
A case was filed against them with the police station, he said.
