Five Jamaat leaders on 10-day remand

A Dhaka court on Sunday placed five detained leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh on a ten-day remand each in two cases filed with Rampura Police Station in the capital.The detainees are Giasuddin, 55, Aminur Rahman, 57, Abul Hashem, Osman Gani, 41 and Shahadatur Rahman Sohel, 43. Earlier, on Saturday afternoon, on a tiff-off, police conducted drive and detained them from the city’s Banashri area.

Magistrate Yusuf Hossain of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka passed the remand order after Mostafizur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (Operation) of the police station produced them to the court with a 20-day remand plea for each of the accused.

Materials, necessary for creating violence and over Tk ten million were recovered from the possession of the detainees.
