Former minister Sarder Amzad Hossain passes away

Former minister and Liberation War organiser Sarder Amzad Hossain passed away at a hospital in the capital on Friday afternoon. He was 74.
Sarder Amzad, also former general secretary of Rajshahi University Central Students’ Union (RUCSU), breathed his last at Apollo Hospital around 3:30pm. He left behind wife, one son, two daughters and a host of relatives to mourn his death.Sarder Amzad was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday with heart disease, said his son Sarder Saniat Hossain.
He also said he will be buried at their family graveyard at Hamirkusa village in Bagmara upazila following a namaze-e-janaza at Hamirkusa High School Ground after Asr prayers on Saturday.
Sarder Amzad was made a minister during the rule of military dictator HM Ershad in 1987.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Speaker of Parliament Shirin Sharmin Chodhury have condoled the death of Sardar Amjad Hossain who had been with the Awami League for a long time before joining the government of HM Ershad.
BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Friday expressed deep shock at the death of the former minister.
In a condolence message, he prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved family members. – UNB
