Govt fears facing people in polls for massive graft: Khaleda


Bnp chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia said on Thursday that the government if afraid of facing the people in election because of the wrath the ministers and their cohorts have earned by resorting the corruption and misrule.
Addressing an iftar mohfil organised by the Islami Oikya Jote at the Hotel Purbani International she said that the life of common people has turned miserable because of the corruption and plunder of resources
She said that the last city elections in Dhaka and Chittagong proved that the people would have given them a lesson had the polls been properly conducted,
Bemoaning the politicisation of the administration that has led to misrule, the former prime minister said it was sad that the people were not get justice as the judiciary was also politicized. She said that leaders and workers of the Bnp and the 20-party alliance were given punishments and sent to jails even on flimsy grounds where as those of the AL and its front organisations enjoyed all benefits of civic life despite the commission of crimes.
The largely attended iftar mohfil has the presence of former Prime Minister and chairman of the JP (Zafar) Kazi Fazar Ahmed, Kalyan Party chairman Major General Syed Muhammad Ibrahim, Nezam-e-Islam chief Advocate Qazi Abdur Raquib, jAGPA chief Shafiul Alam Prodhan, Labour party chief Mustafizur Rahman Iran, Nap (Bhashani chief Javel Rahman, LDP chief Kazi Golam Mortaza, 20 party leader Nazrul Islam Khan, Garib Newaz and GreenWatch Dhaka editor, Mostafa Kamal Majumder, among others.
The iftarMohfil was also addressed by IOJ chairman Moulana Abdul Latif Nizami. – Staff Reporter
