BNP yesterday accused the ruling Awami League of hatching conspiracy to establish one-party system totally in the country with holding the local government polls under party symbols down to the union parishad level.Standing committee member Brig Gen (Retd) ASM Hannan Shah made the allegation while speaking at a milad and doa mahfil at party central office.
He called upon the government to hold the national election immediately by shunning such conspiracy.
Ulema Dal, an associate organisation of BNP, organised the function seeking early recovery of party chairperson Khaleda Zia now staying in London for her health check up.
Hannan Shah alleged that this government does not follow the rules of democracy and allow people to cast their votes.
“High government functionaries are spreading canards against Khaleda Zia’s London visit. It is nothing new about it because they always lie to deceive the people,” he added.
BNP spokesperson Dr Asaduzzaman Ripon and Fazlul Haque Milon, among others, were present at the function.
