Information Minister Hasanul Haque Inu today said Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina had showed her time-befitting and statesman-like wisdom by forming the 14-party grand alliance.
“Sheikh Hasina showed her statesman-like wisdom by forming the grand alliance and she was able to recover the country from razakars-militants and BNP in 2008. She is governing the country successfully till now,” he said, responding to questions from reports at his Secretariat office here.
The information minister who is also president of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JASOD) briefed journalists to explain his speech delivered at Mirpur upazila of his home district of Kushtia yesterday on the importance of grand alliance and ill-motives against its unity.
Inu said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina forged the alliance knowing the history of all parties.
This unity of the parties brought the success in combating militancy and carrying out development in the country, he said, adding, “But it is unfortunate that some leaders are ignoring the other components of the alliance.”
“We should keep in mind that BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia is hatching conspiracies till now…So, the component parties would have to maintain their unity at any cost and show respect to one another,” he said.
He said Bangladesh will be turned into a country like the bloody Afghanistan if the unity breaks as Khaleda is plotting with the razakars-militants.
Suppressing militancy is a big challenge, the minister said, adding keeping the country free from militancy is a bigger challenge too.
