Dhaka – The Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) on Monday demolished illegal stairs, ramps and extension portions of 20 houses at Uttara in capital Dhaka.A section of occupiers was living in Uttara Residential Model Town at Sector No 11 for long occupying roads by constructing stairs and ramps illegally.
The RAJUK authority has several times served notices to the concerned house owners for removing their illegal structures.
“The house owners didn’t respond RAJUK’s directives despite serving several notices and miking. So, we have decided to demolish the illegal structures,” executive magistrate of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Sajid Anwar told this correspondent.
Sajid Anwar, who led the eviction drive, also said that they already demolished illegal stairs and ramps constructed occupying city corporation roads of 20 houses in Sector No 11.
Besides, they have also evicted illegal extension portions of some houses too, he added.
“The DNCC authority is now working for the extension of 30-foot roads. The authority has seen that there was no existence of 20-foot roads in some places during development works,’ Anwar said in reply to a query.
He said that the eviction drive is a continuous process and will continue until the illegal structures are removed by the house owner’s own will.
All the illegal structures will be removed from the city corporation roads, he added. – Staff Reporter
