Interpol released Govt info not notice, it’s evil drama: Bnp

BNP has termed the “issuance of red alert by Interpol” in the name of party senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman a drama, evil tactic and misleading.
“Interpol does not issue any red alert rather it disclose the information provided by the member countries. So, it has just released information whatever Bangladesh sent to it,” said BNP international affairs secretary Dr Asaduzzaman Ripon.Addressing a press conference at party headquarters at Naya Paltan, he said the proclamation of red alert is the outcome of some ministers’ statements and Tarique Rahman would be brought back to home by Interpol for trial.
“It is a staged drama of the government. BNP cannot be kept under pressure by staging such drama,” he said.
The BNP leader claimed that Tarique Rahman is not a fugitive rather is staying London for treatment.
Replying to a question, he accused police of snatching posters and leaflets of Mirza Abbas, BNP-backed mayoral candidate for Dhaka South City Corporation, different places in the city.
He called upon the Election Commission to present a free and fair election to three city corporation polls in Dhaka and Chittagong.
“If the fear haunts the people minds, the election cannot be free and fair,” he said.
BNP chairperson’s adviser Barrister Haider Ali, assistant law affairs secretary Nitai Roy Chowdhury and Asadul Karim Shahin among others, were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the Adarsha Dhaka Andolon postponed the projection meeting of BNP backed candidates contesting in the bifurcated Dhaka City Corporation scheduled to be held on Wednesday at Institution of Engineers Bangladesh for unavoidable reason. BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia was expected to introduce the candidates.- Staff Reporter
