Inu seeks media owners’ support for wage award execution

The government needs support from the newspaper owners to implement the government announced 8th Wage Board Award that has already been published in the gazette, Information Minister Hasanul Huq Inu told Parliament on Wednesday.   “The 8th wage structure needs to be implemented for ensuring discipline in the media industry. It’s the responsibility of the owners to give salary as per the announcement. We hope all including owners will help government to implement it,” he said, in reply to a supplementary of Muazzam Hossain Ratan (Sunamganj-1).   Inu said the government has determined a specific wage structure for each person of the media outlets from editor to employee.   Responding to a question of Zahid Malek (Manikganj-3), he said the government does not have any specific policy on talk-shows now being broadcast by various private television channels. “At present, the mass media is enjoying full freedom.”   The Information Minister said the government has taken an initiative to formulate a broadcast policy. “Once the policy is finalized, the talk-show will be broadcast in light of the broadcast policy.”   He also said it is essential to invite experienced people and experts on the related issue to the talk-shows.
