Police headquarters on Tuesday formed a special investigation team headed by Joint Commissioner (Detective Branch) of DMP Monirul Islam to investigate the killing incident of Italian national Cesare Tavella.
The decision was taken from a special meeting held at the police headquarters with acting IGP Mukhlesur Rahman in the chair, said Assistant Inspector General -Media of Police Headquarters Md Nazrul Islam.
Selected best and skilled officers from all police units, including Special Super of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Md Rezaul Haider, will assist the special investigation team, the AIG (Media) said as quoted the meeting.
Taking the killing incident as a challenge, the acting IGP instructed the police officers saying that mystery of the killing have to be unearthed through collecting intelligence and investigation as well as taking preventive measures. All police units have to take allout efforts to prevent reoccurrence of such kind of incident, AIG Nazrul said as quoted the meeting.
Among others, DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia, DIG (Crime) Md Helel Uddin Badri, DIG of CID Md Saiful Alam, DIG (City Special Branch) Md Mosharraf Hossain, DIG (Political) Md Mahbubur Rahman and DIG (PBI) Barrister Md Mahbubur Rahman were also present in the special meeting.
Italian national, Cesare Tavella, 50, who worked as Project Manager for PROOFS (Profitable Opportunities for Food Security) of the Netherlands-based non-governmental organisation ‘ICCO Cooperation’, was shot to death by some miscreants in the city’s Gulshan area on Monday evening.
A case was filed with Gulshan police station on Monday night. The case was transferred to DB police of DMP on Tuesday.
