“As of now, we know that Marzan is an expert in information and communication technology (ICT),” said additional deputy police commissioner of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Abdul Mannan. Very probably, he was looking after the ICT cell of the militant outfit. Even after the militants had carried out the killings, Marzan communicated with the attackers and sent a long message hailing them. The militants also read out the message before survivors of the Gulshan attack, he added. “We suspect the militants had several tiers to send pictures of the Gulshan attack and the attackers,” ADC Mannan said. As part of the militant tiers, the Gulshan attackers sent the pictures to Marzan, who sent them to another mastermind, he said, adding that the last tier sent the pictures to the Amaq News Agency of the Islamic State. Later, the Search for International Terrorist Entities (SITE) received the pictures of the Gulshan victims along with the five attackers, the CTTC officer added. About the rank of Marzan, the officer said he is definitely below the rank of Tamim Chowdhury in the New JMB. After revealing the picture of Marzan,
