Journalist Faruk dies in road acident

Dhaka – Journalist Abdullah-Al-Faruk, who sustained injuries in a road accident in the city’s Kakrail, died at a hospital in the capital Sunday morning. He was 53.
Abdullah-Al-Faruk, former chief reporter of the Bangla daily ‘Kaler Kantha’,succumbed to his injures at about 7:30am while under treatment at Square Hospital, said sources at the hospital.He is survived by wife, one son, one daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
Faruk was injured as a speeding truck hit him when he was standing in front of Institution of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB) in the area for hiring a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at about 1:00 am.
Later, he was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital from where he was shifted to Square Hospital.
Born at Brishalikha village in Bera upazila of Pabna on December 31, 1962, Faruk was executive member of National Press Club. He started his journalism career in 1986.
His Namaz-e-janaza will be held on the press club premises after Zohr prayers. He will be buried at Azimpur graveyard. – Agencies
